What You’re Doing This Weekend in Mexico City

THURSDAY

Design Week Mexico runs this weekend all across the city. The options are endless, but on Thursday night you can head over to the opening for Design House or see any of the events in Museo Tamayo and the Museum of Modern Art. Find the full schedule online, most events are free.  

Getting tired of Mexico City’s food scene? From Oct. 5-9, the Wine and Food Festival will be bringing the best chefs and sommeliers from Mexico, France and Las Vegas to some of the city’s most exclusive restaurants and hotels. With over 15 events, the festival will have something for every foodie. You can check out the schedule and buy tickets online. 

At night, head over to Mono for a preview of the international festival MUTEK_MX. They’ll be hosting Nano_Mutek starting at 11 p.m. and the party will run all night. Tickets are 600 pesos and can be found online. Mono is located on Versailles 64 in Juárez.

FRIDAY

Make sure not to miss León Larregui’s concert in the Teatro Metropólitan, located in the Historic Center. Mexico City native, Larregui was formerly part of the psychedelic rock band Zoé before starting his solo career. Tickets run from 250-900 pesos and can be found here.

Also on Friday night, NAAFI will be hosting their 2016 Ball: Prehispanic Realness in Bajo Circuito in Condesa. They’ll be bringing Byrell the Great, Skyshaker, Mexican Jihad and others. Tickets online are 150 pesos and 200 pesos at the door.

SATURDAY

Get jazzed for this year’s Mexican Jazz festival, which runs from Oct. 1-15 in the Centro Nacional de Artes in Coyoacán. Some of the events include “Poetry and Jazz” and concerts by Gustavo Nandayapa. There are multiple concerts this Saturday and Sunday and the full schedule can be found online. Entrance is free.

In celebration of 2016 Mexico-Germany Dual Year, this year’s Oktoberfest will be bigger than ever. There will be celebrations all over the city this weekend and next, but make it over to Das Oktoberfest Mx Prost! for the full experience on Friday or Saturday. Located in Bodega Alto Polanco on Lago Ilmen 142, tickets start at 200 pesos per person and can be found online here.

SUNDAY

Celebrate the Month of Design and head over to TOCA for the third annual industrial design festival in Casa Picnic located on José Vasconcelos 117. There will be artwork for sale and conversations and presentations about design. Find more information here.
