What You’re Doing This Weekend in Mexico City

THURSDAY

By far one of the best nightlife experiences in Mexico for those looking to escape the nightclub scene, Parker and Lenox is a jazz bar disguised as a diner, located in Milán 14 in the Juárez neighborhood. Trio Piloto will perform at 10.30 p.m. and cover charge is 100 pesos.

FRIDAY

Chocolate, coffee, mezcal … Need we say more? A bazar that takes care of all your Guilty pleasures all with a nice dose of history and Mexican brands. The event takes place at Bazar FUSION located in Londres 37. Entrance is free.

Bye Bye Rhodesia, a nightclub that stood apart from the rest in Mexico City, is closing its doors and is throwing one last hurray hosted by Tráfico. Rhodesia Social Club is located in Durango 181. The party starts at 11 p.m. Cover charge info at venue.

SATURDAY

For a unique movie experience, Cinema Acahualli is the right choice. A chinampa (a traditional adorned Mexican boat) will take you through the channels of Xochimilco to an open area where the screening of Dracula will take place. The event is at Embarcadero Fernando Celada on Avenida Guadalupe at 6:30 p.m. Tickets on pre-sale are 280 pesos, 400 pesos at the box office per person or 25o pesos per person for groups of five. The ticket includes a beer or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.

For the foodies and hungry people in general, the Comilona General Prim is the event for you, with food, food and more food it is an ideal event for the entire family where the best and most delicious Mexican and international dishes will be available. The event will take Place at General Prim 30. It starts at 12 p.m. and entrance is 50 pesos.

SUNDAY

The Franz Mayer Museum presents World Press Photo 2017, this exhibit gathers images from photographers all across the world. A total of 200 were selected out of an astounding 80,408 images. The museum opens at 10 a.m. and entrance is 50 pesos. The museum is located at Avenida Hidalgo 45.

Sounds of Life Festival: Festival season is in full bloom and Mexico won’t be left behind, so if you’re looking for an adventure this weekend, pack your bags and head to Veracruz. This festival gathers the best acts from record labels from all across the country. The festival will take place in Costa Esmeralda in Veracruz. Tickets and info here.

Cantoya Fest: You’ve probably seen a movie filmed in Thailand where white hot air balloons float up to the sky. In Mexico, cantoya balloons are their equivalent and they are bigger and bolder than anything you have seen before. There are workshops were you can build your own, as well as activities for the whole family. The event will take place in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán from the July 21 to 23. Entrance is free. More info here.
