Mexico 2017: Music Festivals Galore!

Music Festivals take over the globe during the summer and early fall. We all know that the United States and Europe host some of the best festivals in the world, however, Mexico is currently adding venues and line-ups in order become a major player in the festival scene.

Here at The News, we have gathered what we think are probably not the biggest, but rather some of the “unknown” and new festivals that will happen around the country. We have tried to include festivals of every music genre in order to please all music fans.

Monterrey seems like the place to be for music lovers. Festivals keep getting bigger with international renown acts that will make you seriously consider a trip to the northern city.

So get to know the line-ups because you never know when a group you might have never heard of might just give you one of the best nights of your life.

Fest Prog Jazz-Mexico City

This is the biggest progressive rock and jazz fusion festival in Latin America. Headlined by acts like CAST, EKOS and CRONOMAD, this festival is a great opportunity to indulge your love of music in an event that will include art exhibits and a whole lot of cultural activities.

When: Saturday January 12

Where: Teatro Fausto Vega in Mexico City at 12 p.m.

Bud Light Hellow Festival-Monterrey

This Festival became the first music festival in Monterrey in 2008 and the line up for this year proves that it has risen to the very top of the festival list in Mexico. Kendrick Lamar, Steve Aoki and Major Lazer will headline this festival that is sure to keep growing every year and become one of the best and biggest in Latin America.

The event will not only offer music, but it will also feature art exhibits to showcase the creative talent in Monterrey.

Coordenada-Guadalajara 

The fourth edition of this festival promises to be the best. In the land of tequila, music festivals are the perfect compliment. With a line up headlined by Interpol, Paramore and Molotov, there’s a band for lovers of every music genre and food and drinks to keep the party going. This festival is constantly growing and this edition will consist of multiple stages and a food truck area where fans can enjoy delicious food between acts.

Mother of All Rock Festival-Monterrey

Rock and Roll is alive and this festival is further proof that Monterrey will have nothing to be envious about this festival season because their calendar rivals Mexico City’s. The Mother of All Rock Festival’s line up will make every rock fan in the country want to head straight to Monterrey to see rock legends like Aerosmith, Deff Leppard and Alice Cooper.

Festival Aurora-Mexico City

A smaller-scale festival that presents alternative genres such as noise and psychedelic. It’s a great option for anyone who wants to escape large crowds and the weather that comes with outdoor festivals. The headliners will include Spiritualized and Tortoise.

Live Out 2017-Monterrey

The French band Phoenix will headline this festival along with international renown acts such as The XX and Interpol. Once again Monterrey is leading the charge when it comes to a great line-up and venue, and while this festival might not be as publicized as the others, the acts sure speak for themselves.

KnotFest-Toluca

This is probably the biggest event on the calendar for heavy metal fans. The festival is back after some speculation that it might not happen. A Perfect Circle will headline this festival along with Korn, and while Slipknot will not be present this year, the festival still packs a punch with renown acts, as well as up-and-comers.
