The Argentinian coach reportedly met with the board of directors of the club

Argentinian coach Rubén Omar Romano reportedly met with the board of Cruz Azul to take over as coach after the departure of Tomás Boy.

According to sports commentator Luis García, Cruz Azul’s sporting director, Eduardo de la Torre, met with Romano. Romano has previously coached La Máquina in 2005, but only stayed for nine days.

With little chance of reaching the playoffs, Joaquín Moreno will momentarily take the reins at the club, while the directors lay the foundations for a new strategy.

Romano was most recently the coach of the Xolos de Tijuana, a position that he was sacked from after leaving the team in the penultimate place for the Liga MX.
