Finance and Planning Secretary (Sefiplan) Antonio Gómez Pelegrín announced that he will be stepping down due to health problems.

Gómex Pelegrín announced his resignation Sunday night, and interim governor Flavino Ríos Alvarado has apparently accepted it. However, there has yet to be an official statement from the state government.

The Veracruz government has not yet confirmed who will take the reins of Sefiplan. However, there is speculation that University of Veracruz’s head of Accounting Clementina Guerrero García could replace him.

Governor-elect Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares said that the new head of Sefiplan will be part of the transition team.

Gómez Pelegrín’s resignation comes in the middle of Yunes Linares’ transition to office.
