Rector Olvera García acknowledged the contribution and effort made by researchers

Since 2013, 136 professors from the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) have joined the National Researchers System (SNI) and today the institution totals 551 researchers, said rector Jorge Olvera García, leading the year-end breakfast that the university holds with the SNI.

Accompanied by the head of the UAEM Research and Advanced Studies Secretariat, Rosario Pérez Bernal, Olvera García acknowledged the contribution and effort made by these researchers, making the institution one of the five best universities in Mexico.

After giving recognition to the university researchers who joined the SNI, under the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), he emphasized the need for institutions of higher education to have strong and relevant research.

“UAEM is now more internationally visible, as a result of the strong support from student and teacher, but also as a result of the quality of its research and publications and the ties that have been created to carry out joint research with foreign institutions,” he said.

He emphasized that the increase in the university budget would not have been possible without the results of research work, one of the items that the government uses to justify increased financial support. He also recognized the work of Secretary Pérez Bernal and urged those present to continue publishing books, book chapters and articles, to strengthen research as a fundamental axis, but above all to use research to serve the general society’s needs. He concluded by assuring that the UAEM will continue to be a leader in research.
