Toluca, Mexico – The Nursing and Obstetrics Department at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) was recognized by state health institutions. This is thanks to the quality of its educational programs and because of its ability to produce professionals with solid knowledge and skills that contribute to the prevention and care of the population’s health.

At the event headed by nursing director Andrea Guadalupe Sánchez Arias, UAEM rector Alfredo Barrera Baca said that two programs have been recognized by the National Council of Science and Technology’s (Conacyt) National Quality Graduate Program (PNPC). He also acknowledged the participation of the faculty in the different areas of investigation that allow academics to exchange knowledge with their peers.

Barrera Baca invited the Nursing and Obstetrics Department to work to strengthen scientific awareness by publishing books and articles to give researchers greater visibility both nationally and internationally.

Sánchez Arias said that the degree programs are recognized for their quality. The Nursing program is accredited until 2020 by the Mexican Council for Nursing Accreditation. The department also participates in the International Network of Occupational Health, the National Health and Education Network and the Health and Life Care Network.
