The university hopes to promote awareness of the disease

The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) joined the world’s October “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” campaign by lightning up the Rectory Building in pink.

Commenting on the illumination, UAEM rector Jorge Olvera García, said that lighting up the building was intended to promote awareness of breast cancer, the second deadliest type of cancer.

Promoting awareness within universities and the general population could improve detection of the disease, he added.
