UAEM Award Athletes

María Guadalupe González Romero, a silver medalist of the World Athletics Championships London 2017, was recognized for her incredible athletic abilities

At a university awards ceremony to highlight the success of alumni athletes, Rector Alfredo Barrera Baca said that the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) considers sports indispensable for the integral formation of students.

Barrera Baca highlighted the performance of María Guadalupe González Romero, silver medalist of the World Athletics Championships London 2017, mentioning that she is a strong example for the student community in achieving goals.

Others who received recognition included: Aranza Hernández Flores (athletics), Patricia Olvera González (Olympic wrestling), Karla del Carmen Hernández (table tennis) and Monserrat Sánchez (flag football). Margarita Hernández Flores and Jesús Tadeo Vega, both for athletics, as well as coaches Esteban Santos, Germán Sánchez and José Socorro Neri, were recognized.

The disciplines that received sports equipment were: basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling and Olympic wrestling.

Also present at the event were Esmeralda Moreno, world boxing champion in WMD fly-weight and Luis Raúl Ortiz Ramírez, the secretary of the rectory.
