Jorge Olvera García, Rector of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM), said that sport is essential for social cohesion, as it plays an integral role in the building of relationships. The rector stressed sports role in bonding as he presided over the 2017 Football Tournament of the Federation of Autonomous Associations of UAEM Academic Staff (FAAPAUAEM).

After leading photography of the group supporting Itzel Cruz Pérez, a university student who was in a car accident in Santiago de Compostela, Spain last week, the rector stressed that for the reasons related, the 2013-2017 UAEM administration decreed sports to be a right at the university.

Olvera García said that “Alberto ‘Chivo’ Cordoba” university stadium is a historic space where the UAEM Colts will play the Chiapas Jaguars in the MX Cup.

Accompanied also by María Esther Sánchez Coyote, the Director of Sports Activities at the university, and members of the executive committee as well as association presidents of FAAPAUAEM, Olvera García presented trophies to the first place winners, the rectory;  second place, the “Adolfo López Mateos” campus; and third place, the Department of Accounting and Administration.
