Mexico City and El Salvador Exchange Experiences to Improve Female Security

Government officials from Mexico City are making a visit to El Salvador to exchange experiences on strategies to ensure the security of women in vulnerable situations.

The Secretary of Social Development of Mexico City, José Ramón Amieva, said that the capital’s government has focused on the role of women in order to empower women in society and bring about greater equality.

The visit to El Salvador, which also included women lawmakers, women activists and human rights defenders, highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences with the country in order to replicate its success in Mexico City.

The Mexican delegation met with the Secretary of Social Inclusion of the Republic of El Salvador, Vanda Pignato, promoter of “Ciudad Mujer.”

The meeting addressed issues such as social policy and the strategies that have enabled the female population of El Salvador to realize their civil, social, economic and political rights, as well as actions to empower them.

Amieva said that for Mexico City it is essential to understand El Salvador’s methods, to see how women leave the situation of vulnerability and begin living a fulfilling life.

He recalled that a few days ago, the Advisory Body of the “Women’s CDMX” project started several activities, with the presentation of the five guiding axis.

Vanda Pignato acknowledged the willingness of the authorities of the government of Mexico City to implement a model of comprehensive support for women in the city.
