The Second Annual International Youth Orchestra Convention at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) brought together more than 200 members of youth orchestras from Mexico, Colombia and Argentina. Concerts throughout the event represented the three countries, including presentations Saturday night at the Morelos Theater in Toluca, State of Mexico and Sunday in the Juárez Plaza in Metepec, State of Mexico.

The convention ran from September 19 to 25 at UAEM. It brought together the university community and public to enjoy orchestra music. The convention also created a space of exchange between Mexican and international orchestras.

The 2016 event featured 23 youth orchestras, 15 more than the previous year. Orchestras representing the three countries and fourteen states of Mexico were in attendance. The State of Mexico, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, Nuevo León, Jalisco, San Luis Potosí, Morelos, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Baja California, Durango, Veracruz, Tamaulipas, and Mexico City were all represented.
