In Mexico, 60 percent of people between 20 and 59 years of age have not received a full course of vaccinations, according to Miguel Gutiérrez Robledo, general director of the National Geriatric Institute.

In a press conference Wednesday, Gutiérrez Robledo said that failing to complete vaccination courses can have fatal consequences, which can lead to many deaths due to infectious diseases as well as complications from pneumonia and influenza, especially in the elderly.

National experts announced the creation of the first Mexican Adult Vaccination Council, whose object is to promote a culture of vaccination among Mexican adults and encourage them to stay active and healthy as they age.
