Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) Rector Jorge Olvera García, and the president of the Political Coordination Board of the LIX Local Legislature, Cruz Juvenal Roa Sánchez, laid the cornerstone of the Almoloya de Alquisiras UEAM High School building. The school will offer opportunities to around 50,000 young people between 15 and 19 years of age in the region.

During the event, witnessed by mayor Alfredo Victoria López, Olvera García emphasized that young people from 14 neighboring municipalities, such as Sultepec, Texcaltitlán, Ixtapan de la Sal, Zacualpan, Villa Guerrero and Tonatico, will have high-quality education at their disposal. This will promote their full social, intellectual, cultural and physical development, to help both them and their communities in their future lives.

Opening this new campus will bring further development in the municipality, like more transportation, vendors and income for people who can rent rooms to students.

Secretary of Teaching Alfredo Barrera Baca and administrators Javier González Martínez and Alfredo Victoria López stated that with the laying of the cornerstone marked an important stage in the history of the municipality.

González Martínez said that the opening of the high school addressed a long and historic yearning of the inhabitants of the region, and said that next August academic activities will begin at the 30 million peso ($1.5 million) center.
