The dollar rose five centavos to close at 20.74 pesos Wednesday at Mexico City currency exchanges. Banks purchased the dollar for a minimum of 19.56 pesos.

The euro rose 13 centavos to close at 21.94 pesos, while the pound and yen closed at 26.10 pesos and 0.202 pesos, respectively.

Wednesday’s currency trading was affected by a decision by the United States Federal Reserve to raise interest rates by a quarter of a percent, from 0.5 percent to 0.75 percent.

Mexico’s Central Bank (Banxico) set the official exchange rate at 20.2226 pesos per dollar.
